I'm so upset with my home state. It's seriously the saddest outcome of the election. As happy as I was to hear Obama win the presidency, my good mood was dampened when I heard that 58% of the voters in California voted against gay marriage. I can't imagine why anyone would want to limit the extent to which some people can express their comittment of love to each other. That's what it boils down to: limiting--or forbidding--certain people to make the most special committment of love to each other.
My mom was telling me that the news programs on at home were talking about how people from other states were coming into and registering to vote in California just so they could vote in favor of Prop 8. Insane, right?
You know how the civil rights movement came in the 1960s? I really think that the "gay rights" movement is going to be coming along real soon. Not only in California, but all across the United States. I bet it's going to be just as ugly as all the rioting that came along with the civil rights movement, but in the end the outome will be just as joyous. I can't wait to live in an America in which every person is allowed the same rights and freedoms.
I love Keith... Did you see him on The View? I only got to see the part he showed during Countdown, but my friend tivo'd it and said it was kind of ridiculous at parts.
My name is Amanda... but you can call me Mermanda if you want to. I nest in Pittsburgh with my merman Andrew and Luke, our rescued retired racing greyhound. I'm a full-time publicist and part-time freelance writer (hire me!) with a serious addiction to sushi, live music, ginger snaps, and blawgs, of course.
What else do you need to know? I'm a surprisingly excellent thumb wrestler and I make the best grilled cheese sandwiches around. Yep, that should cover it.

Apparently he doesn't vote? WTF?
It's hard to watch him with a straight face after seeing Ben Affleck's impression of him, but I loved him for doing this!
if you want to go to the nationwide protest on Saturday head over to www.jointheimpact.com
